First, the most important link: this week’s Come, Follow Me
“‘What will happen to me after I die?’ Nearly everyone asks this question in some form or another.” This is how the lesson manual starts for Come, Follow Me.
I thought about this a fair amount during my late teens. My dad died unexpectedly when I was 14. It threw me for enough of a loop that I wondered why we’re here and what happens next.
As 1985 through 1990 rolled by I’d occasionally pick up a Bible and start on page one, hoping to find the answers. I’d marvel at the Creation story, but I’d always get stuck at what I call the “begats” — Chapter 5 of Genesis — where the generations stemming from Adam are spelled out. Rarely would I soldier through!
What I appreciate about this week’s lesson is how honest it is that the revelation wasn’t received with the same enthusiasm that so many revelations had been received leading up to it.
More to come…
